Dante Maddox Jr. is one of the most entertaining profiles in this group. At 26 years old and 1.88 metres, he is a dynamic guard with strong ball skills, impressive balance, body control at high speed and a natural scoring mentality.
In 40 games in the Belgian BNXT League, he produced 24.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.5 turnovers in 31.4 minutes. The shooting indicators are also excellent: 44.5% from three and 87.6% from the free-throw line.
Maddox is a shot creator. He can score after the dribble from different distances, attacks the rim with force, and creates a large number of free throws. His 7.9 free-throw attempts per game show not only aggressiveness, but also the ability to pressure the defence consistently.
The concern is role discipline. Unlike Cole, Maddox is less productive away from the ball. He is more of a ball-dominant scorer and can overattack after creating the first advantage. The important positive is that he does see the pass after breaking the first line, especially toward the perimeter. The issue is selectivity. At times he tries to finish against too much defensive traffic, creating turnovers that hurt offensive rhythm.
Defensively, he has a strong on-ball profile. He can pressure his man and use his physical tools effectively. The bigger developmental issue is closeout defence and broader team reading. In modern European basketball, where so much offence comes from advantage creation, extra passes, closeouts and attacking rotations, this weakness matters. He must learn not only to guard the ball, but to guard the next action.
His ideal first step may be FIBA Europe Cup, Basketball Champions League or EuroCup level, where he can maintain usage while learning more structured decision-making.
Scouting verdict: Maddox has real scoring talent. If he becomes more efficient in his choices and more disciplined defensively away from the ball, his market could rise quickly.
